Laura Wheeler is a motivated and dynamic Senior Recruitment Consultant at The New Network. Laura’s commitment paired with her strong work ethic has been instrumental in her success. She has a strong dedication to the service that she provides to her clients and candidates, and she has a natural flair for easily connecting with people. Taking a new approach to recruiting, Laura focuses on understanding the culture and goals of her clients and candidates first, to ensure they are successful.


Prior to joining The New Network, Laura worked in internal recruitment with both publicly traded, and privately owned businesses. Laura made her transition to agency recruitment in 2017 when she joined The New Network. Her determination has allowed her to grow into her current role, and she currently operates as Jennifer’s right hand, managing operations for the business.


Laura’s focus is on helping candidates and clients achieve success. Her consultative approach has allowed her to truly identify the needs of clients and candidates upfront, to ensure an excellent match from day one. Laura works with a diverse set of clients, from start-ups to enterprise-level business. Her specialty is on “hard-to-fill” positions that require heavy market research, sourcing, and networking.


Laura’s career has always been centered around customer experience, and her role at The New Network is no different. Laura has an honest approach to recruitment and ensures that her client’s needs are put first when searching for their next star team member.


Laura earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Memorial University of Newfoundland where she received an Honours delegation for her academic success. During this time, Laura was also awarded The Alice Buckingham Leadership Award for her commitment to her community and program.


Upon graduation, Laura received The Faculty of Business Award of Excellence, which is presented annually by the Business Administration Advisory Board to a student for outstanding academic performance,
demonstrated leadership, and contribution within the program, University, and the community. Laura has always fostered a competitive spirit through work, extracurriculars, and schooling. Laura had the opportunity to travel to Rauma, Finland for the NIBS Case Competition where her team placed in the Quarter Finals.


Laura is also active in her community and has served in a leadership capacity with We Love YYC, engaging with children in the city and offering support and resources for those in need.
